Rubau, together with the Mexican company VISE, has won the concession for the highway that will connect the towns of Silao and San Miguel de Allende, in the state of Guanajuato, Mexico. The concession is granted for a period of 30 years with the objective of carrying out the design, construction, operation, exploitation, preservation, and maintenance of this infrastructure. The works must be completed within the next 24 months. This contract also includes the concession for the reconstruction, operation, exploitation, preservation, and maintenance of the already existing highway that links Silao with Guanajuato. Overall, this is a large-scale project involving a total investment of approximately 300 million euros, 200 million of which are allocated to construction. Up to 15 companies entered the bidding process, but ultimately this large-scale project was awarded to the consortium formed by Rubau and VISE.
The starting point is the complete renovation of the state-owned highway that connects Guanajuato with Silao. Of the total investment amount, 27 million euros will be allocated to this action, which will consist of relocating the toll area and expanding the lanes from the current five to eight. Once this work is completed, RUBAU and VISE will continue managing this route, taking care of its operation, preservation, and maintenance. The new highway between Silao and San Miguel de Allende will be built to improve communication and connectivity in the state of Guanajuato. It will facilitate traffic between the two towns, which are about 86 kilometers apart, and will also help boost and connect the Independence Valley region with the Bajío International Airport, the entire western part of the state (León and its surroundings), and the central-western part of the country. The proposal submitted by our consortium guarantees that both highways will maintain high standards of operation and preservation for 30 years.

This project is owned by the Red de Carreteras de Occidente, with a budget of around 84 million euros, and is expected to be completed by 2026.
