Rubau is pre-selected as a contender for major awards in Colombia

Within the 4G Fourth Generation concessions programme, launched as an initiative of the Columbian Government, ConstruccionesRubau, S.A. has been pre-selected to bid for the Cartagena-Barranquilla and Circunvalar de la Prosperidad project. The project involves the construction of a motorway featuring the most up-to-date technical specifications and including the renovation, construction, extension and maintenance of 146.7 kilometres of road. The project consists of section 1, a 110-km stretch of road between Cartagena and Barranquilla, and section 2, a 36.7-km stretch between Malambo and Las Flores, known as the Circunvalar de la Prosperidad. Construction will require an estimated initial investment of 520 million euros.

Also, within the Autopistaspara la Prosperidad (Highway Connection for Prosperity) programme that is being developed on an approximately 900 km stretch of affected road and more than 1,200 km in operation in the Department of Antioquia, that spans a large part of the Northwest region of the country, ConstruccionesRubau, S.A. has been pre-selected on three of the advanced processes in the first stage of the programme, which in this phase involves the construction of five roads as well as their subsequent operation over 25 years, for a budget of 3.15 billion dollars. The processes for which Rubau has been pre-selected are:

  • Pacific 1 connection: The 46-km long Ancón Sur- CamiloCe – Bolombolo section, which includes 21 km of new construction, 2 tunnels, 20 bridges and 25 km for the maintenance of roads currently in operation, with an estimated cost of 790 million euros.
  • Pacific 2 connection: The 95-km long Bolombolo-La Pintada-Primavera section, which has an estimated cost of 390 million euros and involves the construction of 33 bridges and 1 tunnel.
  • Pacific 3 connection: The La Pintada-La Manuela-La Virginia section. This 231-kilometre section of motorway will feature the construction of 26 bridges and 3 tunnels and will cost an estimated 490 million euros.
