RUBAU GROUP IS AWARDED THE S19 HIGHWAY IN POLAND

September, 2022

RUBAU GROUP, through the consortium formed by the companies Rubau Polska and Poltores, has been awarded the S19 motorway between the towns of Kock and Lubartów, on the Via Carpathia, a north-south European international route that connects Klaipeda in Lithuania with Thessaloniki in Greece. This transnational road network, which is scheduled to open in 2025, will cross Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria and Greece, constituting a transport route along the eastern border of the EU, from central Europe to Asia .

The General Directorate of National Roads and Highways of Poland (GDDKiA) and GRUPO RUBAU signed yesterday September 15 in Warsaw the contract for the design and construction of the 15,824 km of highway, which has an execution period of 36 months and a budget of more than 80 million euros.

The project is located in the Lubelskie Voivodeship, in the Poviat area of Lubartowski and the municipalities of Lubartów and Firlej. The layout of the planned S19 dual carriageway runs along a 70% new road, mainly through agricultural areas, and bypasses the towns located along its route. In the rest of the area, the road runs parallel to the current DK19 road and the land use adjacent to the road is agricultural and forestry.

The planned investment includes the construction of a dual carriageway with engineering structures, road crossings, roads to serve the adjacent area, customer service points, crossings and emergency entrances to the highway and reinforcements of road maintenance work. The project includes the construction of environmental protection devices, a site drainage system, road lighting and a teletechnical network for the needs of the contracting authority.

RUBAU GROUP, present in the Polish market since 2011, has carried out numerous projects in contracts for highways, railway lines, bridges and airport hangars that have led to the modernization of a large part of the country’s infrastructure. These projects have consolidated RUBAU POLSKA as a company with recognized prestige in Poland.
