The business consortium headed by the RUBAU GROUP together with COPASA has been awarded the contract by Polskie Koleje Państwowe (PKP) to modernise the 353 railway line at its Jablonowo Pomorskie – Ilawa-Olsztyn-Korsze section, in the north-east Polish region of Warmia and Masuria.
The contract, with a budget exceeding 18 million euros, was signed on 23 June and work is due to start shortly. The work consists of updating and modernising 143 km of track and overhead lines, improving existing underpasses and building new platforms. The execution time is estimated at 12 months, so the new infrastructure is expected to be available to the public in August 2018. The project will increase the speed of trains, from the current 100 km/h to 120 km/hour. It will also improve security at crossroads, reduce current maintenance costs and increase passenger comfort.
This is the third railway works project carried out by RUBAU in Poland, an indication of the degree to which the group has penetrated the Polish market, where RUBAU POLSKA has consolidated its position as a prestigious, renowned company in the field of infrastructure.
