GDDKiA ONCE AGAIN PLACES ITS TRUST IN RUBAU GROUP TO BUILD MOTORWAYS IN POLAND

February, 2018

The Rubau Group, through Rubau Polska, will build the S61 motorway between the Polish towns of Ostrów Mazowiecka and Szczuczyn, on the Via Baltica route, an international highway running from Poland to Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. The project awarded to Rubau by Poland’s General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) amounts to 120 million euros.

Yesterday, in Warsaw, the GDDKiA and the Rubau Group signed the contract for the design and construction of 19.463 kilometres of motorway, to be executed over a period 31 months. The section of motorway involved runs from Ostrów Mazowiecka to Szczuczyn, from the Podgórze junction as far as Śniadowo.

The previous work carried out by the Rubau Group for the GDDKiA was the extension of the national highway 8, and its adaptation to trunk road specifications in the stretch between the boundary of the Masovian Voivodeship and the intersection of the Zambrów bypass. The value of the contract, which was signed in January 2015, exceeded 120 million euros, and the road was opened to traffic on 22 December 2017. The lateral roads are currently being completed.

RUBAU – S8. RUBAU POLSKA

The Rubau Group has been present in the Polish market since 2011, and has carried out several projects with contracts for roads, railway lines, bridges and airport hangars. It has so far modernised around 130 kilometres of railway lines, and the value of its completed works amounts to 80 million euros. It has also built a single-span bridge, with average distances between pillars, pylons and supports of 108 metres, over the river Soła in Żywiec, for which the contract value amounted to around 10 million euros. These projects are consolidating Rubau Polska’s position as a company with recognised prestige in the infrastructures field.

Other works in Poland

In August 2017, the Rubau Group signed another agreement with GDDKiA for the award of the project and work on the section of the S7 road from Warsaw airport to Lesznowola. This new road will improve traffic between Warsaw and Krakow and Poland’s southern border, and will also relieve the heavy traffic in Poland’s capital. The section includes the junctions at Lotnisko Okęcie and Lesznowola—a road 6.5 kilometres long. The execution period is 3 years, and it has a budget of 60 million euros. The work related to the drafting of the project is currently being carried out.

Two months earlier, in June 2017, the Rubau Group, together with COPASA, was awarded the project for the modernisation of railway line 353 on the route between Jabłonowo Pomorskie and Iława-Olsztyn-Korsze (located in Poland’s Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, in the north-west of the country). This project for the railway company PKP has a budget of over 18 million euros, with an estimated execution period of 18 months. The project involves the modernisation of 143 kilometres of tracks and overhead power cables, the existing crossings will be improved, and new platforms constructed. The execution of this project will increase the speed of trains from the current 100 km/h to 120 km/h. In addition, the works will improve the safety of crossings, reduce current maintenance costs and increase passenger comfort.
